While it remains to be seen how it changes things for both the companies, many suggest that it&#8217;ll be a gamechanger for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/list\/crm-software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CRM provider<\/a> as it&#8217;ll have a way to track how several departments in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/list\/collaboration-software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enterprises communicate<\/a> with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.box.com\/salesforce-slack-and-future-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Box&#8217;s Aaron Levie believes<\/a> that this deal will define the future of work. He states that this deal will create a new &#8220;operating system&#8221; for how knowledge workers interact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many believe that Slack got acquired because it couldn&#8217;t compete with the juggernaut Microsoft Teams has become. As pointed out by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.platformer.news\/p\/how-microsoft-crushed-slack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Casey Newton<\/a>, while Slack was the fastest growing enterprise software, Teams was growing much faster thanks to the top-down sales strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/500ish.com\/the-way-of-the-future-679697c35f79\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GV&#8217;s MG Siegler<\/a> on the other hand, offers a contrasting view that this deal wasn&#8217;t a failure. He believes that Slack has reached a successful outcome and is now on a level-playing field against Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/slack-ceo-downplays-microsoft-as-factor-in-salesforce-deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Information<\/em><\/a> (Paywall), Slack&#8217;s CEO Stewart Butterfield says that Microsoft&#8217;s increasing dominance with the Teams wasn&#8217;t the reason for the deal. In fact, he mentions that Microsoft Teams doesn&#8217;t even scale to the entire enterprise as it&#8217;s limited to 5,000 users and 200 channels. He also rebuffs the fact that the company didn&#8217;t get acquired just to get the benefit from Salesforce&#8217;s go-to-market capabilities. Its CEO Nick Mehta will continue to be with the company, and he also mentioned that they&#8217;re on track to meet their target of $100million ARR this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2020\/11\/kustomer-to-join-facebook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Kustomer to join Facebook<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The social network is also making a play in the enterprise space as it has acquired CRM software <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/kustomer\" target=\"_blank\">Kustomer<\/a>. What separates it from others is its omnichannel view of bringing all the conversations from different channels in one place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/12\/01\/lightspeed-acquires-upserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Lightspeed acquires restaurant software company Upserve for $430M<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/list\/pos-software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">POS provider<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/lightspeed-restaurant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lightspeed <\/a>has announced the acquisition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/upserve-pos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Upserve <\/a>for $430million. It&#8217;s worth noting that it had acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/shopkeep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ShopKeep <\/a>just last month for $440million. The deal will help Lightspeed to expand its presence in the restaurant industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/11\/30\/servicenow-is-acquiring-element-ai-the-canadian-startup-building-ai-services-for-enterprises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>ServiceNow is acquiring Element AI, the Canadian startup building AI services for enterprises<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IT Service Management company ServiceNow has acquired Element AI, which is building AI-based IT services for enterprises. While the terms of the deal haven&#8217;t been disclosed, it&#8217;s reportedly worth $500million &#8211; making it ServiceNow&#8217;s biggest acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"news-of-the-week\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"News_of_the_week\"><\/span>News of the week<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/11\/30\/-gitlab-valued-over-6-billion-in-secondary-share-sale.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>GitLab is being valued at more than $6billion in secondary share sale<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/list\/continuous-integration\" target=\"_blank\">Continuous Integration software<\/a> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/gitlab\" target=\"_blank\">GitLab <\/a>has been valued at $6billion as its letting its employees sell a portion of their equity. For reference, Microsoft had acquired its competitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/github\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GitHub <\/a>for $7.5billion in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/12\/02\/snowflake-snow-earnings-q3-2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Snowflake shows 119 percent revenue growth in first earnings report as a public company<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/snowflake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Snowflake<\/a>, which went public in September this year, has announced its first quarterly results as a public company. It announced revenue of $159.6million. It also mentioned that it has 65customers that are contributing over $1million in product revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/11\/30\/zoom-zm-earnings-q3-2021.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Zoom\u2019s astronomical growth rate appears to be moderating; shares fall<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/product\/zoom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zoom <\/a>has been the breakout hit of 2020, its growth seems to be stalling. It has partnered with banks like Goldman Sachs and Citigroup to offer checking accounts and other banking services to merchants.
