Just last week, the company had shared the daily usage is 25 times higher than it was in the month of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Riding the wave, the company is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/4\/9\/21215588\/google-chat-hangouts-meet-g-suite-name-change-rebranding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">removing the Hangouts moniker<\/a> from the branding for its enterprise offerings. So its video-conferencing product is now simply termed as Google Meet, while the chatting product is referred to as Google Chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The brand also reached another milestone as its G Suite userbase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-04-09\/google-widens-lead-in-education-market-as-students-rush-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crossed 6million users<\/a>. That&#8217;s not all, its education software, Google Classroom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-04-09\/google-widens-lead-in-education-market-as-students-rush-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doubled to 100million users<\/a> due to the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protocol.com\/javier-soltero-google-microsoft-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">He helped overhaul Microsoft Office \u2014 now he\u2019s at Google trying to beat it<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An update on Zoom&#8217;s security challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Google, Taiwan&#8217;s government and many others have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/who-has-banned-zoom-google-nasa-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banned the use of Zoom<\/a>, the popular <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saasworthy.com\/list\/video-conferencing-software\" target=\"_blank\">videoconferencing software<\/a> is pushing out updates to fix the security issues. It has already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/software\/zoom-removes-meeting-ids-from-client-title-bar-to-boost-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">removed meeting IDs from the title bar<\/a> of the app so that no one can screenshot it and share it with others, which prevents &#8220;zoombombing\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More importantly, CEO Eric S Yuan provided an update about the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.zoom.us\/wordpress\/2020\/04\/08\/update-on-zoom-90-day-plan-to-bolster-key-privacy-and-security-initiatives\/\" target=\"_blank\">security council it has formed<\/a>. Moreover, the company has got Alex Stamos (ex-Chief Security Officer, Facebook) as an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@alexstamos\/working-on-security-and-safety-with-zoom-2f61f197cb34\" target=\"_blank\">advisor<\/a> to help it navigate these problems. The company has raised $125million led by Y Combinator&#8217;s Continuity fund at a valuation of $1.5billion.
