What is Asana?

Asana
Source: Hevo Data

Asana can be used to manage tasks and other work within a group. Asana is a tool that helps you keep track of who is responsible and what information they have, such as due dates, steps, etc.

Flexibility is one of the company’s hallmark traits. This means you can decide what work to track and how it should be used. More on this point later. The company has developed more templates and options to structure teams that don’t need complete freedom over the years. Asana subscribers have the option to use Asana in their unique way. They can also use Asana’s templates and options to guide them. This is a departure from traditional project management software designed to manage project-based work.

Asana can handle ongoing work (bug fixes and maintenance, among other things). Asana is skilled at managing ongoing work (bug fixes, maintenance, etc.). Still, these are typically lighter projects that don’t require dozens of moving parts, and you need to coordinate with other simultaneous projects. Let’s take a look.

What’s New in Asana?

Asana is known for releasing new features at least once per year. These are the latest features to be added:

  • Capability to record a video message integrated.
  • Modifications to my Tasks
  • Dark mode desktop app
  • Smart calendar integration

You can now record a video message of yourself using the new Video Messaging feature. This video can be shared with your team members, which can help reduce unnecessary meetings. A video can be converted into an audio transcript to make it more accessible. You have more control over your task view and how you work with them.

Now you can choose to view all your tasks in one view: a Kanban board view or a list view. Automation can also be added. For example, you could automatically receive a notification when someone in your team unblocks an item you’ve been waiting to start. The new Asana desktop app is available for Windows and macOS. It allows you to close your browser to concentrate on Asana. Dark Mode is also available in the new desktop apps.

Clockwise also has new integration, allowing you to integrate your tasks and calendar with Clockwise. This makes it possible to block time in your Asana calendar for tasks.

Asana Pricing and Its Different Options

Asana Pricing

Asana offers a package that suits everyone. As mentioned previously, they offer a unique free forever plan. Here is a General overview of Asana’s pricing and plans;

  • All packages are very affordable.
  • The Basic plan is free and allows for team collaboration of up to 15 people.
  • Although it limits you to 1000 tasks per team (usually sufficient for small projects), the Basic plan supports collaboration with up to 15 users.

Primary users can enjoy unlimited messages, projects, teams, log activity, and file storage. Asana’s Basic plan is available to all users, regardless of whether they are located remotely or in a distributed location. If you want Asana to go to the next level, you must upgrade to Premium and Business. Asana’s pricing is more affordable than similar solutions.

These capabilities are not available in every project management tool. You can sign up for the Basic plan to get it free. There is no risk. You can always upgrade if it becomes too restrictive. Sign up for a free trial if you want to move into a paid plan. You will receive Asana for 30 days.

Asana Premium

Asana Premium is required for teams of more than 15 users. Many organizations prefer the Premium package because it offers additional benefits and features. Asana Premium’s most important feature is its timeline view. This is shown above. This large-picture tool helps to ensure that deadlines are met and projects stay on schedule.

It can track dependencies and see how tasks and deadlines are interconnected. It makes it easier for project managers and project leaders to spot problems and find solutions before they become a problem. Premium includes dashboards and reporting tools that provide quick insight. Managers can quickly find the correct data by analyzing real-time charts and other helpful information. Another essential feature is status reporting. Users can provide quick updates without the need to attend lengthy status meetings. These reports can be customized with charts and key takeaways to make them easy to update in minutes.

Upgrade to Asana Premium, and you will get unlimited guests, private projects, a private team, milestones, forms, an advanced admin console, and unlimited free guests. This feature-rich package offers tremendous value. This package is a bargain starting at $10.99 per month.

Asana Business

Asana Business is for companies requiring advanced project management software features. This package is for organizations with multiple projects and teams in different departments. Asana Business’s ability to set company-level strategic goals is one of our favorite parts. Managers can link goals to specific projects, ensuring that everything is on track. A tool is also included in the Business package to manage project portfolios. This is your mission control center. It can be used to view all your team’s projects and objectives in one place. The portfolio view displays the project name, status, percent of project completion, due dates, and priority level.

Asana Business also offers an excellent tool for managing your workload. Managers can identify which team members are overworked and have more bandwidth. This helps with resource planning and ultimately improves efficiencies. Asana Business supports advanced integrations of Tableau, Adobe Creative Cloud Salesforce, and Microsoft Power BI. You will likely need a Business package if your company uses any of these tools. For larger teams, the $24.99 price tag is reasonable. Asana Business is worth the extra expense if you use the advanced features.

Asana Enterprise

Asana Enterprise, the provider’s top-of-the-line product offering, is Asana Enterprise. It is designed for larger companies and project management. Asana Enterprise allows you to take Asana far beyond project management. Access to all work management tools will be available. You’ll have access to complete work management tools, including configurable member settings and advanced admin controls.

This plan includes enterprise-grade security, privacy controls, and data governance. It is compliant with the GDPR, PCI DSS, and CCPA. Enterprise users also get priority support and custom branding. We believe Asana is still a better choice for small and midsize teams.

For most businesses, Enterprise features are likely to be too much. This level does not offer any additional benefits for project management. It all comes down to user provisioning, security, enterprise-grade management, and work management. If you are interested in an Enterprise solution, contact the Asana sales team to receive a customized quote.

Conclusion

Asana’s free plan works best for small businesses that work on multiple collaborative projects. You can make project management more accessible with the many unique features of the free plan. You will need to upgrade to the Premium plan if you have more than 15 users. All the extra features can make tracking large projects worthwhile.

Asana also offers a free 30-day trial on paid plans. Asana is a great software to keep track of multiple projects and introduce Agile project management to your company.
